Westmoreland Society
Organized in 1986, the Westmoreland Society is a special group affiliated with the Westmoreland Museum of American Art. The purpose of the Society is raise funds through their donations to purchase a work of art each year for the Museum and to honor a person or group that has made a significant contribution to American art.
Each year at its annual meeting held on the first Friday of December, Society members gather for an elegant evening of connoisseurship and to award the Distinguished Gold Medal of the Westmoreland Society. Each year this honor goes to a patron, collector, artist, critic, art historian, or museum professional who has made an outstanding contribution to the arts.
